Whether you’re completely new to music, have some experience, or are already a confident amateur oud player, our doors are open to help you develop your technique and musicality.
Under the guidance of our experienced and passionate oud instructors, you’ll receive personalised instruction that meets you at your level — allowing you to grow steadily and enjoyably at your own pace.
Our oud lessons for adults takes place weekly on a set day and time at our gorgeous premises in Gate Avenue, DIFC and can be joined at any time during the year.
We have time slots available seven days a week from 10:00 to 22:00. Please contact Cristy at enrol@sandc.ae to choose the most convenient time for you to attend.
As all our oud lessons for adults are highly personalised and tailored to the needs and wishes of each, you are welcome to decide whether you would like to sit the ABRSM grade examinations.
We totally understand that you play the oud for your pleasure and enjoyment so this decision is totally optional.
We do not follow a set syllabus but rather adapt to each of our students as everyone is different and requires special attention.
We require an initial three-month attendance as we believe that it is the minimum amount of time an adult should study at S & C to benefit fully from our excellent oud instruction.
After this initial period, you are welcome to continue your oud education on an on-going basis.

Absolutely! You are most welcome to join S & C even as a complete beginner. Our oud courses are tailored for adult learners who may have no musical background at all. You will gradually learn how to read notation (if desired) and understand the unique characteristics of the oud step by step with the support of our excellent instructors.
Not at all. We firmly believe there is no age limit when it comes to discovering and enjoying the beauty of the oud. Many of our students begin their musical journey later in life, and progress wonderfully.
Of course! You are warmly encouraged to book an introductory lesson to explore the instrument. At S & C, we believe that musical ability can be developed with the right guidance and encouragement—no ‘natural talent’ required. Our supportive instructors will help you build confidence and skills at your own pace.
Not at all. You do not need to own an oud before beginning your lessons. During your first session, your instructor will guide you on how to choose the most appropriate oud for your level and style. We are also happy to advise on renting or purchasing options.

We recommend a minimum commitment of three months to begin with. After that, your lessons will continue on an ongoing basis, tailored to your goals, availability and personal progress.
Absolutely. If you’re an advanced oud player, we will match you with one of our senior instructors who has the depth of experience and skill to support your further development. Please inform us of your level in advance so we can make appropriate arrangements.
Each oud lesson is tailored to your personal goals and musical interests. We cover a wide range of styles including Arabic, Turkish, and Persian traditions, as well as improvisation and maqam theory. The content will always reflect your unique aspirations and preferences.
