Practice on the days you eat!

If you really want to learn how to play the piano well, you will need to practice consistently on a daily basis.

Even if are only able to commit to 15 minutes per day, it is the daily practice and time with the instrument that will enable you to reach your musical goals and play the piano well.

It is therefore imperative to have a daily practice schedule that you can stick if you want to make serious progress.

The right environment to practise is also of the utmost importance.

You need to practice where you will not be disturbed.

Make sure that everything is prepared prior to your practice session.

As a tip, have a notepad, pen, pencil and eraser with you in case you need to make some notes and also markings on the score.

Set your phone on flight mode, and make sure that everyone knows you are not to be disturbed for the duration of your practice time.

Be serious about your practice time.

Remember any effort you put in will be repaid to you in leaps and bounds in the future!

So, make a serious effort around your practice time and the practice environment.

Work with a metronome and follow your teacher’s advice.

Do not only play the songs you love but also work on essential elements of playing such as scales, arpeggios and sight-reading.

The more you put in, the easier playing will be in the future!

Demand a return on investment on your practice time – make it pay and you will be seriously surprised at what you can achieve in the future!
